This wonderful old Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle painting is my impression of how these beings appear when one is diving in deep waters. The colors of the spectrum fade into a field of blue the deeper you go. I think divers will understand this Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle painting as soon as they see it. I hope even those who have never taken a dip in the ocean will also enjoy this old guy.

Aloha! I am an artist is no longer living on the Island of O'ahu, in Hawaii. I lived there for 6 years and while there completed this series of reef fish and sea turtle
paintings, I hope you enjoy them. I also paint other subjects such as Hawaiian scenes and Hawaiian beaches, Hawaiian floral still-life paintings, miniature Hawaiian paintings of roosters, flowers and various other subjects.
The inspiration for the "Hawaiian Reef Fish Series" artwork comes from years of traveling and living in tropical climates. One of the countries in which I lived was the Philippines. I lived there for four years and had the opportunity to scuba dive off the coasts of Batangas and Moalboal on a regular basis. The reefs were so pristine and teeming with life I was in awe.
These Hawaiian Reef Fish paintings, were inspired by those scuba diving adventures, however, they are specific to Hawaii. These are vanishing species of Hawaiian reef fish and so are the reefs they inhabit. I hope you will think about this the next time you or your friends visit Hawaii. We may not be seeing these friends in the future. An example of this is, the Flame Angelfish, which only can be found in Hawaiian waters, has been over collected for salt water aquariums to the point that it is now almost extinct.
